We went to the pet shop to look at birds close up. We also went on four different birding expeditions

in our area, places that the professor had taken us on that Saturday field trip. By far the best

birding expedition in the Spokane, Washington area was Davenport Cemetery, an hour away, at dusk. It

seems to be a bird sanctuary. The children looked through their binoculars and identified many, many

birds. Safety: Many parents just do not feel a school environment is safe or not safe enough for their

children. Bullies, harassment, sex, drugs and sometimes even guns and gang violence, are unfortunately

just getting worse in today's public schools. Drugs, sex, and harassment have even become common place

in many schools around the US, and it is only getting worse. Homeschoolers also tend to be gatherers

of information.

helps to make this easier, so homeschoolers like to gather new books, review lots of different

perspectives on learning, and so on. This makes them natural researchers.

Finally settled down by the time our son was five years old, I enrolled him in first grade in a

Christian school. The school year was a few months away yet. I was asked if he could write his name

and read because those were requirements for being placed in first grade. Otherwise, he would be "held

back" in kindergarten.

As technology continues to evolve and improve, our homeschool curriculum choices will naturally

migrate towards an electronic format. Therefore, when our pocketbook isn't evolving at the same speed,

we can be creative in our thought processes and solutions in order to continue to provide a quality

homeschool education.

Since the time I grew up, there are some new skills that make the process a lot easier. I explained

to them that I use mind maps at the start of the process of organizing my thoughts. Mind mapping has

less structured than an outline but it is not quite as free-form as brainstorming. I find that

brainstorming does not give enough direction and I don't think that is very conducive to the way that

people think As a home schooling parent you can determine the method that suits them best. As opposed

to Public School where every child gets the cookie cutter program.

Parents should always choose programs where the designer has tried the kit to ensure the outcome of

the experiments. Science can be taught in various ways and some of them are unit studies, conventional

text, hands on or a consolidation.
