subject: The Pros and Cons of Squidoo [print this page]

Squidoo is an online writing platform that is free to join. It allows you to showcase your work and earn an online residual income at the same time. The more lenses you create, the more traffic you will receive and thus the more money you can make. However, as many pros as there are with the site, there may be one con that may hinder you in wanting to write for the site.

The Pros

High Traffic Site. Squidoo naturally ranks high in the search engines. Thus every time you create a new lens it will also rank good so that you can get more search engine traffic.

Great For Promotion. Squidoo is designed to help you to promote your other stores online such as Etsy, Lulu, Cafepress and so on. Therefore if you have any of these stores, then squidoo can help you to market them.

Generate Lots of Traffic. Squidoo also allows you to generate lots of free traffic. You can create lenses and add as many links into these lenses as you like for more traffic.

Affiliate Revenue. You can also make money with affiliate sales from Ebay and Amazon. Both of these sites have a lot of products to make it possible for anyone in any niche to make money with them. Furthermore, you can also make money with other ads that they place on your lenses.

The Cons

No Back Links. A lot of writers write for writing platforms to build back links and generate free traffic to their main website. Squidoo however, does not allow you to build back links, even though you are allowed to add as many links into your articles as you want. Thus the only thing that squidoo can do for you is generate an income and help you to drive traffic.

However, Squidoo allows you to fill out a profile page, and any links that you have on this page will count as a back link. Therefore even though you cannot build the links from your lenses, you can still establish your online credibility and a create a few links from your profile page.

As with any other writing it takes a lot of work to create your lenses, and then you need to generate traffic to them in order to make money with them. But the more that you create, the easier it gets.
