subject: Jfk Airport Parking - Why Hotel Parking Is Your Best Option [print this page]

With over 20,000 JFK airport parking spaces available, it's inconceivable that many passengers still suffer delays and other inconveniences from being unable to find a good parking spot on time. Such mishaps get played out hundreds of times everyday owing, in part, to the sheer volume of people and vehicles coming to and leaving the airport at any given time. New York's Kennedy International Airport, after all, is the 12th busiest airport in the world.

However, with a bit of planning and advanced booking, you could easily avoid these stressful situations. There are several JFK airport parking options to choose from when you're doing your trip planning: central airport parking, off-airport private garages, and hotel parking. In my opinion, the most economical and convenient option is hotel parking - the so-called 'sleep, park, and fly' alternative.

Compared to parking at the central JFK airport parking facilities, hotel parking is surprisingly more cost-effective. I'm saying 'surprisingly' because most of us associate hotels with high costs and such. If you're traveling for 10 days, for example, you'll have to pay approximately $180 for parking at the end of your trip if you've used the slightly cheaper long-term airport parking at Lefferts Blvd. If you happened to park at the central color-coded facilities, the cost would be a whopping $1329! This last one is hypothetical, of course, no one can be that dense to park long-term at short-term rates.

By contrast, JFK airport parking at any of the nearby hotels costs anywhere from $200 to $240 for a room to sleep in the night before your flight - packaged with 10 days of free parking. The savings you're getting from the complimentary free parking is practically paying for the room, plus you get to stay in a 3-4 stars hotel with all the conveniences and amenities.

Perhaps, the best reason for you to choose the hotel parking option comes down to one word - convenience. Consider this: if you live 3 hours away from the airport, you'll have to wake up at 1 am just to be at the airport one hour before a 6am flight, and that's assuming you're parking at the expensive color coded parking facilities. By the time you get off the plane, if it's a short 2-4 hour hop, you'll be drowsy and cranky for lack of sleep.

With the 'stay, park, and fly' option, you can check-in into your hotel at any convenient time the night before your flight, have a restful sleep, wake up at 5am (for the 6am flight), be driven to the airport with full valet service - right to your terminal doorstep with someone else taking care of loading and unloading your luggage for you. The same first-class treatment awaits you at the end of your trip getting from the airport to the hotel to get your car.

Of course, some hotels may offer less services or will charge more than the usual price range. But. here's the thing: competition in this industry is quite fierce and most hotels run heavily-discounted first-class offers just to get your business. It's up to you to take advantage of this and book the best JFK airport parking bargain available online. Have a safe trip!
