subject: You Must See Epcot -a New World [print this page]

EPCOT was the brain child of Walt Disney and came about because of his desire for a better community for all. It's a part of Walt Disney World and the idea behind it its creation was to inspire the public. The way in which this is achieved is by demonstrating the best in industry to the general public. Although it's done in an entertaining way, this part of the theme park has been traditionally associated with adults.

In order to provide something of interest or inspiration, leaders of innovation in American industry were invited to stretch themselves in terms of technological advancement. Through the use of the research laboratories and other resources the best minds in new thinking were allowed to run free. In other words it's like a playground for the super intelligent which turns out to be a spectacle to stretch the imagination.

It all began in 1966 shortly before Walt's death when he opened the innovation hub which he felt counted as his contribution back to society. With thoughts of improving the world in which we all live in, the advancements and wonders were displayed to the public. The main reason for doing so was to inspire the person on the street to think about their own world and how they could improve it. In short he wanted people to push the boundaries of their own existence.

Something that is recognizable to millions of people all around the world is the 'Spaceship Earth'. This in case you had not guessed is the giant gold ball that is one of the symbols that we all associate with the Walt Disney World. Inside the huge sphere you are taken on a ride through history eventually and at the exit you are propelled in to 'Project Tomorrow'.

Another famous area is the 'World Showcase' where countries of the world are represented from an educational perspective. Here you will see just how diverse this small planet really is and you'll have a little taste of each country's culture.

For children and adults alike there is the section called 'The Seas with Nemo and Friends'. Previously this was known as The Living Seas but has had a change of direction. Now you are taken on the search for Nemo with his friends Dory and Marlin. These comical characters first found their way to people's hearts in the Disney Cartoon called Finding Nemo. Every body's favourite clown fish is now an integral part in visitors experience.

A must see is the 3D experience that transports you in to such films as 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids'. With a wealth of new material always on hand this feature is always changing. The 3D extravaganza never fails to entertain and is far beyond anything you will ever come across in a cinema which is the sort of standard you would expect from EPCOT.

With every day the displays and features on offer to amaze are changing and there is no way I could do them justice in a few lines of text. The only thing I can suggest is that you take a look for yourself and I'm sure you will not be disappointed.
