They are probably accustomed to it by now as this comes about every summer but this year it seems to be having a bit more momentum due to the fact that Cesc stated he'd like his future straightened out before the World Cup and apparently had a matter-of-fact discussion with Arsene Wenger about exiting Arsenal.
Barcelona have advanced a bid but it has been rejected. Barcelona president Joan Laporta is still set on persuading Arsenal to give up Cesc Fabregas despite having a 35million offer for the Spain international rebuffed, however
Laporta was quoted as saying;
"It's a price that we consider to be his market value. Arsenal have rejected it. Now the sporting director must decide what should be the next step,"
"We are in negotiations and we'll see how they turn out. At times, these operations are resolved at one speed, and others at another.
"We have to do everything we can to convince them that the best thing for all is to reach an agreement."
Arsenal, however, are quite adamant to hold on to their prize player and reports have even stated that Cesc is not for sale at any price.
Already a throng of potential replacement players have cropped up in the papers in anticipation of Cesc actually quitting this time.
Leading the pack is Yoann Gourcuff from Bordeaux. Now Bordeaux aren't very happy with Arsenal as they have already lost Marouane Chamakh to them. Handing over another star player would surely be out of the question. Gourcuff though does have a buy out clause in his contract for around 20 million. Would he be Arsenal's most costly signing to date?
Unlikely, as Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Tiraud affirms he has not received any offers for him.
