subject: What Are You Learning To Create In Your Business? [print this page]

One of the constant reminders I hear from business and marketing coaches and mentors is to IMPLEMENT!!! Why? Because its a natural instinct for an entrepreneur to dream, design and generate ideas for their businesses. But taking it from idea to reality so that they generate the income to grow the business oftentimes becomes a challenge.

There are a number of ways to help the part-time or full-time solo entrepreneur implement their ideas including hiring team (not employees) but outsourcing to those who can help you make that idea a reality.

By contrast, there are some entrepreneurs who are so busy IMPLEMENT-ing that they forget to take time to learn. There are advances every day in systems, technologies, approaches that help you to reach more clients and create an effective and efficient business structure.

Case in point, well lets just use me for example! Since Ive been business building for over 5 years, I think Ive both learned and implemented a lot of the lessons I paid for. But recently I spent a full 3 days working through a home study program that has already given me incredible results in my business.

Now most business owners would not want to take those 3 days to learn, theyd really want to spread it out, but here is why that never works

Lesson #1 You wont invest the time you think you will

With all due respect, youre just a phone call or email away from distraction when you try to squeeze in time to learn. You start the day with great, powerful intentions and then you read your first email or pick up that voicemail message and your focus shifts.

Heres a tip designate just one day at a minimum the world wont end and you may just find that its worth another and another (like potato chips!)

Lesson #2 You just WILL NOT connect the dots

When you break up the learning of a new program, process or system each time you return to it you have to re-set your head around it. Youll spend (or lose) time trying to remember what the previous point was, in order to put it into context with what youre learning now.

Heres a tip Keep a notebook with you so that you can outline each step in your learning and highlight the steps you want and can implement immediately, to maintain your momentum.

Lesson #3 You wont appreciate the financial investment youve made

One of the exercises in my last home study system had me figure out my hourly rate based on the income I want to earn this year. I cant tell you how big my eyes got! When you compare that rate to the time I invested in learning the system, I expect a huge return! And I dont know that I could calculate it as easily if I hadnt focused on it consecutively.

Heres a tip In business we want to be sure weve gotten a return on both the time and money we invest in our learning. If its consistent, as in 4 hours a day or a full day, it becomes much easier to feel (and track) the full benefit!

Take the time to learn and create more in your business. Yes, you must implement, but if one lesson helped you attract more clients and double your profits, wouldnt it be worth it? Well, you wouldnt know, unless
