subject: Where To Find Adequate Boxes For Moving [print this page]

Moving can be a very stressful experienceMoving can be a very stressful experience. Packing up all of your belongings and getting them to a new location can be difficult on its own. But often, the most grueling part of the task can be tracking down enough boxes for moving to your new home.

Local grocery and department stores are the first places that should be checked out. You probably won't leave empty handed if you ask a manager or employee nicely for a few good boxes. Also, by visiting the stores in the morning, you will score a lot of boxes since that is usually when workers are unpacking the merchandise. Since it saves them the hassle of breaking down the boxes, the employees will gladly give them away.

A local liquor store is another gold mine when it comes to obtaining boxes. Wine and liquor bottles come in cardboard boxes that are very sturdy. And since they take up a lot of space, the owners will be more than happy to let you take as many of them as you want. These boxes are also perfect for packing glasswares and breakables since they come with dividers inside that are meant to protect the alcohol.

When you find out your moving date, let your friends and family know. They too can be an excellent box collecting resource. You may know someone with a few empty boxes lying around in their garage or attic, it never hurts to ask around. Your friends may also know of someone who has just moved themselves and have boxes to get rid off.

Drive through local apartment buildings and find their dumping sites. Generally, when new renters move in they leave their boxes at the dumpsters. You might even get lucky and happen to see a family in the act of moving in. Ask about their empty boxes and propose to save them the trip to the trash cans.

Another box finding method involves a little searching on the internet. There are numerous sites available for you to find exactly what you need. Social networking sites and online classified ads are a great place to look for people who have boxes they need to get rid of. They are also a handy way for you to advertise your box needs.

If you're able to pay for boxes, there are many ways to get some for a good price. Moving containers can be obtained at packaging companies nearby. Browse your city's directory or search the internet for companies selling boxes nearby. Moving businesses generally offer them at fairly cheap prices.

As long as you are willing and able to do a little work, finding the boxes you need for your move will be easy. By checking with department stores, friends, and searching online, you should eventually acquire all the boxes you need. And if you start your search well before the move, you will be able to save yourself from excess stress and worry.
