subject: Wholesale Drop Shipper | Pepper Spray In Self Defense Situations [print this page]

Pepper sprays are used for self-defense and other similar circumstances around the world. One of the reasons that they are so popular is because they are incredibly effective!

The original - and still most commonly-used - type of pepper spray is based on a substance called "capsaicin." This is a derivative from one of the extremely hot kinds of peppers used to flavor spicy dishes, called Capsicum peppers. With just one spray into the face, these self-defense products can drop an attacker for nearly an hour... even longer, in some cases. The nice thing about pepper spray is that it is both easy to carry and simple to use in the appropriate scenario.

The pepper sprays used throughout the world may vary somewhat, but they are all derived from Capsicum peppers. Some of them are organic, like the ones usually used in the United States, while others are synthetic, like those produced in Russia and the United Kingdom.

Regardless of the source, these sprays can be remarkably effective. The synthetically produced pepper sprays create precisely the same symptoms and as the sprays that are created from the actual pepper plants. Both of these types of sprays are utilized all over the world for defense against human attackers, wild or feral animals, and other forms of threats.

How Is Pepper Spray Used?

There are an intriguing variety of canister sizes and delivery systems for the kinds of pepper sprays. Most frequently used are spray containers, which are often quite small and can easily be carried in a pocketbook or jacket pocket.

For individual or personal safety, these smaller canisters are ideal for many people because they are simple to manage and not unwieldy. They are also a good idea for legal reasons, since certain areas of the country (like California) have legal limitations on the size of a pepper spray canister allowable for self defense. It is worth noting that some areas of the world will only allow pepper sprays to be used against attacking animals, such as Canada.

Pepper spray is very effective against attacking humans or animals because the physical response is virtually instantaneous. Exposure to the face induces involuntary closing of the eyes, and the capsaicin can also cause short-term blindness. Additional symptoms will include fits of coughing, breathing difficulties, extreme tearing and runny nose, and other painful redness all over the face.

Does Anything Help The Symptoms of Capsaicin?

Even though it may seem like the perfect antidote, water does not help at all... this is because capsaicin is not soluble in water. Time is the only thing that has been shown to decrease the pain of pepper spray.

Due to these factors, pepper spray can be instrumental in helping potential victims to safely remove themselves from a self-defense situation. Because it has been shown to offer proven efficacy (along with non-lethal results), pepper spray qualifies as a tremendous alternative self defense option, especially for families with children or those living in areas where a firearm is not allowed.
