The Motorola Flipout provides the user with the Android Eclair (2.1) operating system while also offering a 3 megapixel camera and Motoblur technology which combines all messages and social networking updates into one easy to read and manage view on the handsets 2.8 inch QVGA capacitive touch screen.

The handset has a 3 megapixel resolution fixed focus camera with 4 times digital zoom and Panorama shot feature along with geotagging capability. It is capable of capturing images and saving them as JPEG files and also videos at 25 frames per second, saving them as WMV 9 files receptively. The video playback meanwhile, is better at 30 frames per second, and AAC as well as MPEG-4 formats can be streamed on the phone to enjoy video on the internet.

The display measures 2.8 inches and is a QVGA capacitive touchscreen primarily with landscape orientation on this handset which has a unique and stylish square design. The display flip over to make way for a full QWERTY keyboard, including a dedicated numbers row allowing the user the ability to quickly and easily enter text or write messages, although an on-screen option is also available to the user.

Meanwhile the phone also has full email capabilities with Exchange ActiveSync (both 2003 and 2007 respectively) and also support for POP3 and IMAP4 providing a means to the most commonly used email providers including Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail and Google Mail.

The handset runs the Android 21 (Eclair) operating system which offers scope for the user to customise and adapt their phone to their needs by being able to download any applications or widgets they wish. The powerful and open source operating system is run smoothly on this phone through the 600MHz processor clock speed and aided by the 512 megabyte random access memory. For storage memory, the handset has a microSD card slot which is capable of supporting up to 32 gigabytes of storage.

The Motorola Flipout is an impressively stylish and compact handset in a uniquely square design that sets it apart from almost any other phone. The camera and display are both good quality, while the operating system combined with the Motoblur technology offers a fast multi-tasking smartphone.
