subject: For Quality And Stability, The Name Is Ford [print this page]

I've been watching the situation with the government bail-outs of the auto industry. To tell the truth, I'm a bit disappointed with all of the motor companies that have opted for the bailout, and wonder where the corporate disconnect happened that caused so many of them to get so deeply in trouble. All of this trouble, however, as caused one company to shine about the rest. Ford has managed to survive without the bailout, and is still producing quality cars.

People can be so particular about their choice of car, with brand loyalty based on intangible factors like nostalgia and family tradition. If you want something tangible on which to base your next choice of a car, Ford's ability to avoid the same financial trouble that many of its competitors are now facing should sit at the top of your list. While other cars makers are using your tax money to stay afloat, Ford is holding their own.

Ford cars are great as well, with reliable standards like that Taurus and the Fiesta. The new Escape hybrid, which Ford touts as the most fuel-efficient SUV on the planet, promises to be exciting, with an average 34 MPG in the city, 31 MPG on the highway, and up to 44 MPH in full electric mode. That's as good as most compact cars, and this is an SUV! Ford may have not been the first to introduce hybrid cars, but they are definitely taking the concept to a level that most Californians can appreciate.

Let's not forget the Mustang. Since its introduction at the 1964 World's Fair in New York City, the Mustang has been a huge favorite. The car has undergone five generations since its inception, and a 50th anniversary model is in the works for 2014. It's exciting to see a maker that has plans for one of its oldest lines while so many other models and companies are being discontinued and shut down due to the economic downturn.

So no matter where you live in California, be it Sacramento, Los Angeles, or even Hemet, there is a Ford car that will excite and surprise you. The Ford company is synonymous with innovation, from the first assembly lines to the way it operates today, and owning a Ford car is a way to show pride in your country and in the principles that made this nation great. We don't need more bailouts; we need more companies like Ford.
