Repetto Shoes was created on a whimRepetto Shoes was created on a whim. The result lasted more than a whim; it has lasted more than 60 years and has influenced shoes and fashion along the way. Rose Repetto fashioned the first shoes that was to be the first among millions later on based on the whim of her son, Roland Petit, a ballet dancer and future world class choreographer.

Famous for their ballet outfits and shoes, these shoes have been around for a while before it became famous as 'the' shoes of the movie and God Created Woman which starred Brigitte Bardot. The fame grew and continues to grow to this day. The ballet en pointe inspired shoes were so comfortable that it was like wearing ballet shoes over the streets of Paris but only sturdier.

Since the ballet en pointe shoes emerged, there have been countless imitations and followers of the designs of the shoes. Till this day, the designs of sixty years ago are still being made and remade into so many versions but all sticking to the same platform of ballet shoes for the streets. Although the other brands may be more affordable, the quality is not the same and the designs are definitely way below par.

The death of Rose Repetto, the usual difficulties were felt within the company the company saw a decline in sales that nearly brought it to its demise. Until the arrival of Jean-Marc Gaucher who saw the potential to the classic shoes, the company had been passed on from one management to the next and failed to perform because of it.

Today's it has regained the glory that it once had and beyond. The shoes are now fashion setting and the fans of the shoes have continued to purchase them despite what people say about the cost. For the comfort that it can provide the wearer, be it stilettos or ballet flats, there is no difference. The quality has only improved in both design and comfort and its consumers are never disappointed.
