subject: Repairing Your Hoover Vacuum Cleaner [print this page]

You can find two models of Hoover vacuum cleaner namely upright and canister positioned model. Upright model has a motor along with a fan which sucks and collects the dust from the surface in a bag. All these parts are mounted as a single unit. If anything goes wrong you must unscrew the cover, remove the damaged part and replace it with the new one. In case of canister model every part is located as a separate unit. Hence in canister type it is often easier to find and replace the damaged parts than in the upright model. If you need to repair a Hoover vacuum cleaner when any of its part malfunctions, the first and foremost thing you must do is to diagnose where the problem lies. Since there are only small number of parts available in the vacuum cleaner it is easy to locate the part which malfunctions. You may often come across problems related to belt, agitator brush and blockage. If belt malfunctions, check out the belt whether it has snapped or wrapped itself around the portion of brush. If the belt is broken you should replace it with new one. Then check the agitator brush as it is possible that it may get tangled with hair, pieces of carpet, or strings. In such case cut of all those things and place the clean brush in its place. Blockage of one of the hoses may result in poor suction. This can be repaired by taking one hose at a time and remove the blockage. If any electrical problem occurs it is better to take the vacuum cleaner to an electronic shop than to fix by yourself.
