subject: How To Create An Html Signature In Outlook Express 6 [print this page]

One of the common issues for the users of Outlook Express 6 is that when they reply to or forward an email message, Outlook Express 6 throws an error message saying, "Font is not supported." This problem occurs when a Text signature is used. This is not a big issue to be worried about because this problem can be resolved in few easy steps. However, for some novice users this issue can be a nuisance and resolving that issue can be a challenge for them. This article helps the novice users of Outlook Express 6 in resolving the error message. But, before depicting the process of resolving the error message, you must know the reason leading into the specified error message.

Cause

The "Font is not supported" error message occurs due to some internal flaws of Outlook Express 6. However, the error message appears only when you include Text signature with the email messages that you are replying to or forwarding to any recipient.

Solution

The only solution to deal with the specified error message is the use of HTML signature instead of Text signature. If you do not know how to create HTML signature then execute the following steps:

1. Open a text editor. You can use any text editor like Notepad, Microsoft Word, etc. Here, I am considering Microsoft Word as the text editor.

2. Type your signature in the editor.

3. Include your email address, company logo, etc. in your signature if want.

4. After typing the signature, select the Save As option in the File menu.

5. Select a location to save the file.

6. Type a name for the signature in the File name drop-down list.

7. Select the file type as.html in the Save as type drop-down list.

8. Click the Save button to save the file on selected location.

Now, when you have created HTML signature, execute the following steps to include that signature in your Outlook Express profile:

1. Start Outlook Express 6.

2. Select Options in the Tools menu.

3. Select the Signatures tab.

4. Click to select the File option in the Edit Signature section

5. Click the Browse button in the Edit Signature section to locate the HTML signature file that you have recently created.

6. Click the Apply button.

7. Click the OK button.

8. Restart Outlook Express 6.

This way you can create and use the HTML signature in Outlook Express 6. You will also not get the "Font is not supported" error message when reply to the email message or forward the email message to any email ID.
