This rather compact looking unit produces 553 horsepower at 8700 rpm and peaks at 9000 rpm. The maximum torque of 354 pound peaks at 6,800 rpm, with 90 percent available between 3,700 and 9,000 rpm. The rear mounted transaxle six speed automatic gear box is controlled by steering column mounted paddles. There are two rear mounted radiators. The carbon ceramic disc brakes respond instantly and positively.
The Lexus LFA has a wide range of colours. The standard as well as the special colours include Whitest White, Metallic Silver, Pearl Gray, Pearl Brown, Pearl Blue, Pearl Yellow, Pearl Red, Red, Black, Ivory White, Mint Green, Aqua, Lavender, Sky Blue, Lime Green, Fresh Green, Orange, Passionate Pink, Sunset Orange, Slate Blue, Steel Blue, Moss Green, Crystal Gold, Brown Stone, Steel Gray, Lapis Lazuli, Black Amethyst, Starlight Black and Matte Black.
The interior of Lexus LFA has many unique features. The car has two bucket seats. The car also has a Lexus Remote Touch controller interface. The instrument display is also unique in its way, with a digital speedometer, which has colour-changing background, size-changing numbers and side-appearing submenus.
The safety features of the car are also unique with a new seat-belt driver and passenger airbag design. There is also a start button, which is mounted on the right side of the steering wheel as well as the alloy paddle-shifters. The car has very comfortable hand-stitched leather seats.
Lexus is only making 500 LFRs to sell to a selected group of drivers, who will actually buy and use the car. This is not a car designed to sit in the museum of a collector, collecting the gentle strokes of a dusting brush of the servant. Toyota clearly wants these cars to be driven and driven well. Toyota says that by the end of 2011, there will be a staggering 20 Lexus LFAs running around. Such is the exclusivity of the car.
Both externally and internally, the Lexus LFA is a truly amazing and superb super car. It is a pity that only 500 of them will be handmade. The LFA has spent ten years in being designed and developed, but the end result is really awesome.
