subject: Air Soft Wars In Military Training [print this page]

Air soft is an activity that is used for leisure or military training and is like paintball. Paintball as you may know shoots pellets from a special paintball gun which paints or stains a color on the clothing of the individual who is hit while air soft pellets do not color the attire of the one who is struck.

Air soft war may be seen as being really similar to strategic videogames such as the well-known Counter-Strike or Call of Duty where teams contend against each other in different scenarios including Capture the Flag and bombing situations. As air soft is designed to be real-looking the weapons used are just about the same to actual weapons in overall sizes and even in the amount of ammunition per clip if you so wish. Although you may be able to locate some paintball guns which are fairly real-looking in dimensions often the weight and amount of bullets that are available for paintball is what made it more likable and realistic for people. While air soft, though used by persons is also the option of police and military personnel for simulations and training.

Due to the fact that air soft is an endeavor not constrained to military personnel the only dissimilarity between military and civilian air soft is that different terms have been given for the different types of activities done during the game.

For realistic simulated events where tactical maneuvers, military attire, actual or limited ammunition are used and military or police personnel train, the term used is MilSim which means Military Simulation. Another term used is skirmish or open day where realism is usually ignored and allowances are made for things such as high-capacity magazines and the use of any kind of camouflage garments is permitted. Another variation to air soft war is dubbed Live Action Role Playing or LARP for short where more rules are put in to make the situation somewhat close to the videogames where rules about the amount of hits to eliminate an opponent, armor and even more unrealistic enhancements like supernatural powers are endowed upon players.

Since air soft pellets do not paint the target, players must depend on an honor-based system in which the one who is shot will announce that he or she has been hit and then go away from the battlefield back to the safe zone. In order to avoid being shot by other players, the one who is going back to the safe zone will typically hold a flag, flashlight or beacon to say that he or she is no longer a member of the game or hold his/her weapon up over his/her head.

Air soft pellets unlike other pellets additionally have bio-degradable kinds which can be used if players so choose. These bio-degradable rounds are meant to have little impact on the environment as opposed to the traditional plastic rounds which may be troublesome to find after a few rounds are played.

Since air soft war is alike to tactical first-person shooter videogames it is often played by players of these games who want to test their skills in real life, and as a similar environment to the ones in the videogames is what they desire to experience these players and their teams may choose to play with Live Action Role Playing rules.

First Person Shooter or FPS videogames typically have a melee weapon that can be used to silently eliminate an opponent from behind or whenever your opponents life points may be low; air soft has a similar melee rule with knifing where rubber or toy knives are used.
