Everyone dislikes having to live in a cramped and cluttered house. But, there probably aren't too many people who truly enjoy all the work and energy it takes to keep a house clutter free and completely organized.

Keeping my house organized has always been a tough thing for me, it used to really stress me out too. I ended up wasting so much time and effort because I'd have to look real hard for possessions I had misplaced. I never wanted to have people over because my house was a mess.

Something I've learned that has made a big difference for me is this. You must have a system, or, an order to your home. I'm not just talking about things looking like they are all in place and you like decluttering on the 3rd tuesday of every month. When I say a system, or, order, I am saying that every possession of yours must have a specific location where you can always find it. This way, finding things will not be hard because you'll always know where to look. You must work hard at keeping things where they belong so this system won't fall apart.

See, it really isn't that complicated. Your mom probably harped on that to you when you were young, "Always put your toys back where they belong after you're done playing." The problem is, as we get older and we get more and more possessions, plus all the daily mail and documents we receive really make keeping things organized difficult.

The second type of system that I think is important to use is a specific system to decide what you keep, what gets donated and what gets thrown away. With a couple good decision making methods in place, I have transformed the time it takes for me to declutter my possessions. I still use them when I am decluttering my home. When you have a good system it eliminates a lot of the stress because you make quick easy decisions according the technique, and it keeps you from getting overwhelmed.
