subject: Can Back Pain Be Cured Once And For All? [print this page]

Back pain is something that can effect many people all at varying ages, it's not only a very painful problem but it's something that can effect people every single day and most just live with this condition or find short term solutions to the problem, instead of reaching for the pain killers we need to understand the root cause of the problem and try to correct it so your back pain will be gone once and for all.

There are many ways to cure the pain short term which may involve heat wraps, taking pain killers and of course massaging the area, however I honestly think it's important that we address why you are getting the back pain in the first place because if we don't tackle the problem it may only get worse and cause more damage.

The first time I started to get back pain was when I was younger and spent a lot of time playing video games and carrying really heavy bags on my back when I was in middle school, after years of doing this I felt that my back and posture had become misaligned on one side and I always seemed to be slouching which I felt may be the root cause of my problems and still even now I think getting the correct postural alignment is critical to reduce back pain, when you slouch or sit at a desk leaned over for hours on end you put massive strain on your back which then leads to inflammation and pain.

Another problem you might be having could be fibromyalgia, this is a condition that effects all of your muscles and can lead them to feel very painful and soar despite not being placed under any pressure, this condition is commonly associated with thyroid problems so it might be worth going to get a blood sample from your local GP to rule out these problems, it took me a few years before I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid which can lead to back pain and muscles aches.

The last thing I would advice would be lifting weights on a regular basis, when you strengthen your core muscles it feels like a tight belt that is protecting your spine and back, a good set of deadlifts or stiff legged good mornings can really increase the muscle strength and size in your back, it also helps to bring you back into alignment and will take the pressure off and reduce the pain, you can also try things like yoga or basic stretching exercises in the morning to really work the spine and keep it aligned.

I should also mention supplements, take some good antioxidants so you can reduce the level of inflammation build up in your back and you should also try copper which is great for keeping your joints in order, I would also try MSM, both of these can be taken in supplement form and should only cost a few dollars from your local health food store.
