Camping is one of the great pastimes, and the United States is abundant with parks and campsites to entertain and amaze you. Spotting wildlife and melting s'mores over a campfire are only two of the great things you can do. Swimming in hot springs and cool lakes is just one of the ways you can spend your time. The Great Outdoors offers endless possibilities.

With the help of the Internet and industry magazines its easy to research campsites around the country to help you plan your getaway. For tried and true camping trips you can always depend on the the many US national parks. Parks like Yellowstone and the Great Smoky Mountains offer the chance to fully enjoy the outdoor experience. For campers who would like to discover new areas, there are many unique campsites and outdoor areas. If you want to see another amazing canyon besides the Grand, try the Forty Mile Canyon in Utah. The hike is challenging but doable as you wander among the trees and travel along Forty Mile Creek. The canyon is full of refreshing pools where you can take a quick dunk to cool off.

From the peak of the San Gorgonio Mountain in California you can see an amazing view. Over 11,000 feet above it all you can see multiple ecozones. At such great heights you'll love the view of the land below and sky above. Across the country, the Appalachian Mountains of several states and the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina also offer amazing sights.

For a bit of unconventional camping, there are some spots that are catered to you. If you're looking to bare it all, consider the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Michigan. One of the best attractions there is the spectacular view that becomes visible as the lights start fading at dusk. For optimal stargazing away from the concrete and smog of the city, a great place to camp is Mount Wrightson Wilderness in Arizona. High on the tree-free summit you can see the Milky Way like youve never seen it before. Though it's not most known for camping, Hawaii is also a great destination for camping and adventure.

From sunbathing and swimming to eating and drinking, campsites offer some of the best entertainment around. Traveling alone or with friends and family, getting out in nature is surely the best way to appreciate it. From Alaska to Virginia and many places between, the US is full of excitement and wonder.
