subject: Yeast Intolerance [print this page]

Many people know about milk intolerance, but do you know about yeast intolerance? This happens when there are too much yeast in your body. The fact is yeast exists naturally in your body, typically in warm and moist area like in the mouth, intestine and vagina. However, they are kept in check by good bacteria in your body. Thus we don't feel anything.

That being said, sometimes, your body becomes overcrowded with yeast. This occurs particularly when the environment changes. Example is when the body is kept acidic and moist, creating a great breeding ground for yeast. Also, it may be, you take too much antibiotic which also kills the good bacteria.

This yeast infection, also called Candidiasis because the main culprit is a yeast-like fungi called Candida Albicans, releases toxins into the body. That's why there are often symptoms like bloating, constant feeling of fatigue, lack of concentration, itchiness and inflammation just to name a few. It is not a joking matter having to face these uncomfortable feelings. It is therefore crucial to take steps to treat it once you recognized that you have the symptoms.

One of the most effective ways to eliminate Candida is to "starve" it. Going through a Candida free diet means eating food that doesn't contain yeast or food that nourishes the yeasts. Products that contains yeasts includes pastries, bread, cakes. Acidic environment also promotes yeast, that's why vinegar should be avoided when you are on a candida free diet.

Besides that, sugar all types including refined, granulated, brown etc is an agent for yeast to multiply intensively. So you shouldn't take them as well as anything that contains sugar including carbonated drinks and even fruit juices that you buy in the supermarket which has very high content of sugar. Moldy and fermented stuff like mushroom, cheese, soya sauce, alcohol, wine and processed food, i.e. food that is canned should also be avoided.

If you are wondering what's left for you to eat, it means you are so used to modern living...which unfortunately are made up of mostly junk food which harms your body. Substitute your diet with lots of fresh vegetables, fruits (not the very sweet ones like grapes), moderate protein and carbohydrate. You'll see a difference.

Of course, in order to successfully kill the yeast which by this time have invaded your body will need sufficient period of the diet. These period can be from three to six weeks or longer. Ideally you can be very strict about it. The problem is when you have Candidiasis, you tend to crave for food which are made from yeast and sweet things. So beware and stay alert! Don't let them win...In the first couple of weeks, you may feel the effects of yeast toxins as you abstain from sugar and other stuff. Hang on there, because once that effect is over, you'll feel your body starts to get better and better.
