subject: Bergen County NJ new Mercedes lineup: Electric car in 2013? [print this page]

Mercedes is apparently joining the crowd when it comes to launching an electric vehicle. A fully electric version of the Gullwing SLS is being tested by the German automaker and it could be on the market as soon as 2013. Bergen County NJ C-Class customers will be stoked over this one.

This SLS AMG E-Cell runs by routing the power through four electric motors - one positioned at each wheel. This is a powerful electric too, with 526 horsepower, but is a bit on the heavy side at 4,400 pounds, so that power is probably necessary. I can't help but picture this sitting next to a Prius, getting ready to drag. It would certainly make that race between Porsche and MINI look like small potatoes.

There are three settings on the driving program. Comfort is for a slower, softer ride and the motor uses only about 40 percent capacity. In the Sport mode the motor kicks up to 60 percent and the response time is sharper. Then there is sport plus the full 526 horsepower and some super-aggression to rival anything you've ever driven. Bergen County NJ new Mercedes dealers are hoping it arrives soon.

Why so much power for an electric? Why not? The reason electrics are only popular with some of the buying public is that they tend to focus on saving power all around instead of just cleaner power. This is a model that will satisfy those with a need for speed. The SLS E-Cell can zoom from zero to 62 in 4.0 seconds and 130 mph in less than 12.

Even at speeds up to 100, there are no audible whines or rattles and rather than feeling like a work in progress, this feels like a ride ready for customer delivery. Four modes of regenerative braking are offered so there is very little drag. Shift paddles allow for gradual deceleration, except for step three which is very aggressive. Customers of Bergen County NJ C-Class who are looking for a drive that will impress should sign up here.

The AMG SLS also has a completely new front axle, which is a pushrod-actuated setup, and replaced the control arm design of the regular SLS. Bergen County NJ new Mercedes customers will love getting this out on the road if it is developed for the U.S. market. But even if it is, we have a couple of years to anticipate it.

In the meantime, they can choose from many other Mercedes models, some of which are discounted for the end of the model year. A visit to your local Mercedes dealer now is an opportunity to find the perfect vehicle for you and your family and get it at an affordable price.
