subject: Barbecue Sauce, Public Enemy Number One Amongst Cows, Pigs, And Chickens [print this page] While man has been a hunter and gatherer since he arrived on the planet, there have not been too many things more than barbecue sauce that has created so many animals to be eaten. With so many delicious varieties of sauces and marinades created of the centuries, they have only enhanced the grilling experience. If these things had not been invented, man may have gotten bored with having to hunt down these animals and resorted to more farming and gathering of the slower and easier to catch berries and nuts.
Instead of resorting to a life of eating grub worms and plants, man evolved to creating easier ways to track down and ultimately eat better tasting animals. Barbecue sauce only gave him more zeal for wanting to eat meat, and made all that energy burnt up on the hunt worthwhile. This passion for the hunt even took to figuring out how to catch and eat animals that fly, swim, and even ones that could kill you in the process. In making meat so flavorful, it may be that many a man was put in harms way just trying to catch a delicious but dangerous animal. Some might say it is a worthy cause though, knowing how much they love their barbecue.
With methods of hunting made easier, the creation of the specialty barbecue sauce was born. Ones for just poultry, some for the big game and beef hunters, and some for just the succulent and always delicious pork products were all created to satisfy mans love of meat. With such a love of meat, man then began to figure out how to not only hunt these animals, but to learn how to raise them and have their deliciousness at their disposal when the time came to eat. Cows, Pigs, Chickens, turkeys, bison, and even ducks have all become staples of our diets by way of raising and eating them.
Overall, it probably can be said that the creation and use of incredibly delicious barbecue sauce is responsible for the increase in countless millions of animals being eaten. On the contrary, it can also be said that no animal that is consistently raised and eaten by man has ever been put on the endangered species list nor gone extinct. For whatever that is worth, maybe the implementation of grilling sauces can be said to have contributed to the survival of many animals that would potentially have gone extinct long ago.
