subject: Sorting Through Web Hosting Reviews [print this page]

Reviews have become a trusted source by customers when they want to search for more information about a particular company, which they want to invest their money in. This is because many Web hosting companies have flooded the market and have bombarded potential customers with their delicious promises of being the best and catering to whatever it is that the customer needs at all times. It has thus become a tiresome process of sorting though companies and selecting the one truly suited for you.

Because of economic problems, customers have become more proactive nowadays; they want to make informed choices about products and services they buy. Before customers actually buy products and services, they have to read more about how these actually work from the other customers' point of view. They are after all well-versed on the product or service, so to speak, as they have had the honors of trying them out.

Because of the importance of reviews, scamming Web hosting providers have found a way to sell their services fast and increasing the growth of their earnings in a short span of time. Unbelievably, they can commission review sites to produce good reviews about their company such that the both of them are benefited. So how do you tell which reviews will actually benefit you or not?

Look for reviews that are short and concise. People have this tendency to think that the longer the reviews, the better. However, you may find out that these reviews contain many flowery words without actually telling the specifics of how the service provided by the hosting company really works. Try reading between the lines and deciphering the content of such reviews. Remember that product and service reviews given by professionals are usually composed of one to two sentences.

Look for ratings. A good measure of the quality of service is spoken by numbers-quantity to describe quality. An example would be through the use of scales and ratings. From a scale of one to ten, how does a customer rate the speed of service, the level of customer satisfaction, the technical support available? Or there are actually real measures to the companies service such as the uptime percentage or the disk size. A good customer talks about these aspects rather than using descriptive terms such as great service or really fast speed. These comments can be really subjective. What is fast for him or her might not be fast for you. Look for numbers, which are always more reliable.

Find companies that direct you to several sites offering positive and negative reviews about them. The more sites that have reviewed the company, the better. You will know that many people have found them credible to have tried their service. This means that the hosting company is very secure of the quality of the service that they provide.
