subject: Indian Education Today- What the 3 idiots are saying [print this page] Author: Abhinaba Sengupta Author: Abhinaba Sengupta
What are the 3 idiots trying to say? Something that is very basic after all. That education should be more about application and less about mugging up stuff and reproducing them in the examination hall!
Well this can only be made effective if the focus shifts from an exam oriented learning scenario to a development oriented one. When students are no more encouraged to run after scores! Simple though that may seem, its a tough proposition really, especially given the very competitive market for jobs. There is no dearth of jobs maybe but there is certainly a dearth of human values in this 21st century.
We are blinded by the glare of superficial things and have little time for introspection and self-development. And without introspection true maturity can never happen.
That is what the 3 idiots are urging! Stop by for a moment and think where you are running and why? Education is development of the mind, not learning by rote! So stop running blindly and take a deep breath. Start your life on a fresh note and you will be able to see things in a better perspective... with a little more understanding. ICSE students need to be more interactive and herein comes the need of a community of students who enlighten each other on various issues that they face in life. Online forums are a great way to build and sustain such student communities. In the age of internet students have a vast pool of resources which if utilized properly can be the greatest tool for self development and motivation. About the Author:
