subject: Exfoliating Scrubs [print this page] Exfoliating scrubs first came to existence for the general public in the early 80's. Prior to that, various "mud packs" were used in spa's, and Dermatologist applications. The scrubs consist of a cream to spread the exfoliating factors, which are usually grains, granules, crushed seeds, polyethylene balls, etc. Two of the most popular brands contain crushed Apricot pits, and Grape seeds.
While you can visibly see these in the product, it's not like you are sanding your face. Used once in the morning, and maybe, once in the evening, you'll find your face luxuriously softer than it's ever been. Both sexes should use these, as they absolutely cleanse your face, many times, eradicating acne and future outbreaks. The use of this product on older skin, will hold back time, softening the fine wrinkles that form at the eyes and mouth regions.
Another use are the elbows, arms and hands. If you use your hands heavily in the garden, around the house, or working as a mechanic, these exfoliating scrubs will cleanse and soften them, used on a daily basis. Soft skin, doesn't soak with dirt or stains as much as dried out, non-cared for. Think of a piece of leather. It easily accepts a stain.
Exfoliating scrubs are usually sold in a large, fat, squat tube. Be careful to only put a thin, dime-sized round spot on your palm. With your fingertips, you can then dab the areas of the face you want to pay attention to. After spreading these dots on your eyes, forehead, cheeks, nose and chin, you can then gently rub them for a minute or two. A few splashes of cool water, followed by a gentle wipe with a wash cloth, will remove the product from your face. Never rub your skin with a towel, just pat dry. Rubbing creates friction, in turn, drying the skin more.
You'll find these products priced from moderate to high amounts at your local drugstores and big chains. The store brands do work just as well, so save yourself some money and give those a try. Play with the different types of exfoliates to see which one works well for you, and which you enjoy the most!
You'll be glad you added these products to your bathing rituals. Within just a day or two, you'll notice a marked difference in the texture and appearance of your skin.
