subject: My New Website: Getting Traffic And Indexing Within 24 Hours [print this page]

Let's face it, most new websites do one thing and one thing only, and they do it very well: absolutely nothing! There are currently millions of websites just sitting around on servers, bored to death, not helping anybody, and not making any money.

But did you know it's possible to get traffic to a website within the first 24 hours, and get it indexed by Google that fast as well?

There are three things I want to accomplish when I publish a website:

1. Get it indexed in the search engines.

2. Get free traffic to it.

3. Make money!

Now, I realize that not everybody is a marketer, so point three may not apply. Earning money may not be your goal. But you are definitely trying to sell something, whether it's your idea, your cause, your passion, or whatever.

To accomplish all three of these things as quickly as possible, here is a short list of easy things you can do. Before you start, make sure your site is set up with sharing tools, so that when visitors do arrive, they can share it with their friends and followers as well, getting you viral growth and sales!

1. Social Bookmark it. Use one (or all!) of the social bookmark sites. This isn't an article on social bookmarking, so I'll keep it simple, just use stumbleupon dot com and bookmark your site, entering all your sites keywords, and a good description. This will not only get your site indexed quickly, but can get it some natural traffic too!

2. Create a Hub Page about the primary subject of your website. Hub Pages is like a cross between an article directory and a website. You can add pictures to your new "hub," as well as videos, comment boxes, and even make money from their advertising. Make your content useful and meaningful to other Hub Page readers, and include just one link to your new site, in a natural and non-promotional way. Because Hub Pages is so popular, the Google spiders crawl it like ants on a picnic blanket, getting it indexed fast. And again, you can get some natural visitors to your site from Hub Pages itself.

3. Announce it on Facebook! Don't do it in a "salesy" way, or you'll tick off your friends. But a simple announcement like "Hey friends, check out my new website! I'd love to get your feedback on it..." is a perfectly legitimate way to not only announce your site, but to get some constructive feedback on it.

1. Tweet it! Let your followers know it's out there. And don't expect that one Tweet to do the job. Set up your site so that every time you post to it a new Tweet is automatically sent to your followers.

5. Send an e-mail to your opt-in subscribers. If you don't have an opt-in list, just send an e-mail to everybody in your address book, similar to the post you made on Facebook.

If you follow these four steps within the first few hours of your site launch, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how quickly your site gets indexed and gets natural traffic. From there, make sure and check your analytics every day to see how well it's converting. Don't be discouraged if the sales don't pour in, internet marketing is much more of a "ground war" than most Guru's represent, be willing to stick with it for the long haul, testing, tweaking, and improving until you get the results you're after.
