subject: More Superhero Movies Coming In The Near Future [print this page] Holy comic book adaptations! Whats that up in the sky? Its a bird! No Its a plane! No its your friendly neighborhood Superhero Movie coming to a cinema near you.
Comic book movie adaptations are gaining a huge audience over the years with so many superheroes who already made it to the cinemas.
With their crime fighting hero line-up such as Spiderman, X Men, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and the upcoming Thor, Captain America as well as the Avengers Marvel Entertainment has made it big. Stan Lee created most of the famous Marvel superheroes and must be proud of his children.
After creating a D.C Entertainment division its apparently, D.C Comics want a piece of the pie. Warner Brothers Chairman and CEO, Barry Meyer had recently stated that the studio has lined-up several release dates for their soon to be realeased 2011 movies which includes some sequels from the existing Batman and Superman franchises as well as several new D.C comic book superheroes to be brought to life on the big screen.
Some of you would be wondering which D.C superheroes will appear in theaters this time around and Some may have heard rumors of certain projects which are already in pre-production.
Well starring Ryan Renolds as Hal Jordan, The Green Lantern is slotted to be released on the 17th of June 2011. Reynolds who is quite familiar with superhero movies after his involvement in Wolverine as Deadpool and Blade 3 Trinity as the annoyingly sarcastic Hannibal King.
Back in theaters In July 2012, expect the third installation of Batman 3 and by the end of 2012 the long awaited sequel to the Superman movie will be out.
Barry Meyer had also explained that the Flash will be coming into the big screen as the project is nearing a green light. Other D.C superheroes such as Wonder Woman and Aquaman may also be making an appearance as they are under development.
Yes, superheroes are the 'in-thing' now and expect to be seeing more of them in the near future. Especially after the success of Iron Man, Batman and Spiderman who can blame the studios for not jumping on to this cash cow?
I wonder if Warner Brothers are planning to make a Justice League movie like what Marvel is doing with their on going Avengers project. I hope they do not rush it and take their time doing it though as Justice League is sacred when it comes to comic books as far as I am concerned.
Poor Cyclops. Just look at X-Men and see what they did to that franchise. He didn't know what hit him. It all comes down to the director and writers. I'd actually be over joyed with any directer that stays as true to the comic as possible and If you ask me I'd really like to see Zack Snyder who directed the 300 and Watchmen movies to give it a go. Unlike X-men 3. Poor Jean Grey.
Nevertheless, I bet that if you're like me, most of you comic fans are super happy about this news. Who wouldn't? The only question now is, would these adaptations live up to the expectations of the fans and non fans alike?
