subject: Fresh For 2010 Motorola's New Phone The Flipout [print this page] Motorolas newest handset, the Flipout, has broken away from the traditional idea of what a mobile phone should look like by offering customers unique styling without any compromise on functionality.
When you first take a look at the Motorola Flipout, it is obvious that you are not looking at a mobile phone in the conventential sense. Its square styling immediately makes it stand out for the crowd. Such a design could be awkward to handle in a larger size, however the manufacturers have managed to produce this handset at just 67mm height and width, thus making the square design perhaps more manageable than the traditional rectangular phones. No compromise has been made with the screen of this handset though. An impressive QVGA 2.8" TFT screen has been packed into the Flipouts frame. This touchscreen shows a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The screen itself does allow the user to perform every function needed on the phone. However the unit has an ace up its sleeve with regard to a physical keypad hidden beneath the screen. This is a 5 row Qwerty keypad with obvious appeal to people more likely to message and e mail frequently. Rather than being a slider style design, the screen on the Flipout, flips out! Thanks to a pivot point simply rotating the screen to one side reveals the keypad. This has added a few millimetres to the depth of the unit, but at 17mm it is still fairly impressive.
Multimedia usage plays a big part in modern day mobile phones, and although not jaw droppingly amazing, the Motorola still boasts some impressive features. A microSD card slot is fitted to the phone and the handset comes with 2GB pre installed. However the unit can support cards upto 32GB, meaning a hefty amount of storage is available if required. Perhaps not vital for general phone uses, such impressive statistics are almost vital when it comes to media usage. For example, hundreds of photographs can be stored thanks to the 3 million pixel camera built in to the Flipout. A handy editing suite allows you to adjust these images once the photo has been taken, and a digital zoom allows you to get a touch nearer to the subject. Thanks to GPS, the phone also can Geo-tag your photos, which basically means storing the location of where every snap is taken. MP3, WMA and AAC audio files are amongst the host that are supported by this unit, really giving the user flexibility in what tracks are used on the phone. If radio is more of your thing, a built in FM Tuner will certainly appeal, and everybody will appreciate the the 3.5mm headphone jack, meaning endless possibilities with regards to what headphones you choose to listen to your music on.
The Motorola Flipout certainly ticks all the right boxes with regards to style, innovation and function. Whether you are looking for a good all round handset, or looking for something a bit different from everybody else, then this is the phone for you.
