subject: For Stay At Home Mothers Who Want To Improve Their Future: Obama Scholarships For Moms [print this page]

The US economy is going through some tough times, but there are some bright spots that should encourage you to look to the future. To get mothers to go back to college, the government is offering Obama scholarships for moms. Mothers of all types have the chance to get a quality education that will no doubt benefit their families and future employers.

Obama scholarships come from federal aid called Pell Grants. The Obama administration made some changes to Pell Grants to put emphasis on getting moms to go back to school. Now Pell Grants worth over $5,000 can be awarded. That's an increase of more than $1,000 over the previous maximum for Pell Grants. In many cases single mothers would be low-income students, and that's who these grants are intended to help. To deal with this, the government is encouraging moms to go back to school. Having money to go to college could benefit both stay-at-home mothers and working mothers.

These grants have other benefits to add incentive for moms to enroll in college. Large colleges and universities obviously attract many students. For a single mom who didn't have this option, it may have prevented her from going to college. The Pell Grants, however, take this factor into account. Whether a working mom wants to attend college part-time or a stay-at-home mom wants to take online courses, these specially targeted grants make it possible. Education, nursing, business and more are all options. It doesn't matter what you want to study. Single mothers now have more opportunity to study, and this is the important part.

For single moms who want to start on a different path, an Obama scholarship may be the answer. There are only a few simple steps to help look into applying for a scholarship. First, you have to fill out the online application for federal student aid called the FAFSA. It's free and there's plenty of information to help you learn what is available to you. The first $4,000 to pay for your education is free according to the American Opportunity Tax Credit program so remember that. Consider this tax credit as well as the chance of getting a grant when weighing your options.

Single moms who work or stay-at-home have a wonderful chance to attend college and advance their education. The chance to receive government grants and other free opportunities are meant to help moms care for their families and increase the money they can earn as important members of the workforce. Obama scholarships are meant to give women the opportunity to improve their own future and that of their family.
