subject: Relaxing The Hair - A Few Tips [print this page]

Relaxing of your hair can be done efficiently by following some simple techniques that will be discussed here. Here are some of the important tips to follow.

The first technique to start with is by providing a basing to your scalp by applying some virgin olive oil or any others that will help in covering your scalp entirely during the process of relaxing your hair. You should cover your entire scalp by separating and parting each section of your hair. Parting the hair into four equal sections is recommended. This can be done by parting and clipping the hair on your head. Once you do this, it will seem to look like a cross in your hair. Now to begin with the process, take one section first. Now, you can star rubbing a small amount of the relaxer cream on the hair using a relaxer brush so that no spots are missed. Remember to apply the relaxer on the new growth of the hair and not on the scalp as it can make the scalp dry and it will affect the health of your relaxed hair. After finishing with one section, you can move to the other section and repeat section by section in the same manner.

After completing applying the relaxer cream on the four sections, you can go back and work the relaxer from side to side. You should then comb your hair gently section by section. The type and texture of your hair determines the time required for leaving the relaxer on your hair. After giving enough time for the relaxer to be absorbed by the hair, you should slowly rinse out the creams with a neutralizing shampoo. Neutralizing shampoos are designed for discontinuing the process of hair relaxation and also prevents hair breakage. After removing the relaxer with a lathering shampoo, condition your hair using a leave-in conditioner. After combing the hair and allowing it to sit for a few minutes, you can do hot oil treatment if you wish to as it is excellent for your hair. Then you should rinse the conditioner and dry the wet hair by patting with a towel and then comb through and style it as you wish.
