subject: Aion Versus WoW - Real PvP [print this page] From its initial conception and release the Warcraft series of computer games have changed how gamers play. Everyone was taken by surprise by the meteoric success of the online version of Warcraft, World of Warcraft, and it was thought that its success would never again be repeated. Until now that is!
Warcraft may be the current giant in the massively multi-player online role playing gaming world but there is a newcomer that is looking to knock it off its pedestal. Aion is a new generation MMORPG that has hit the gaming world with a bang. So is Aion capable of toppling World of Warcraft?
Aion is a visually stunning MMORPG. As a fantasy game the developers have a created a realistic and appealing world. Your character wields amazing powers and uses their wings to explore the celestial virtual world around you - yes you can fly!
Aion is the baby of a Korean game developing company called NCsoft.
Aion is actually a character is the game who is a little like Zeus of ancient mythology in that he created humans to tend his world of Atreia (just like Zeus created humans on earth to give devotion to the gods of Olympus).
The game combines PvP (player versus player) and PvE (player versus environment) two types of game play available in world of warcraft. However NCsoft have combined the two and called it PvPvE.
The ability to fly in Aion makes it different from Warcraft because there you have to earn your flying mount but in Aion you can do it yourself. Flying is great but the really neat feature is that you can engage in some airborne combat!
Having won Korean Game of the Year Aion is set to take the rest of the world by storm. Aion is graphically very stylish and engaging. It is wonderful to look at. Its gameplay is equally well conceived and designed. This is truly a great game that will become very big all over the planet.
When you see just how smooth the gameplay is and how appealing it looks you will understand why this game has been critically acclaimed by critics and gamers alike. Will Aion take over from World of Warcraft? I guess we will just have to wait and see.
WoW is the biggest online game for a reason and it is always trying to improve. By releasing timely expansions, the latest being Cataclysm, Blizzard seem to be securing their market dominance.
However, with its exiting game play that easily matches WoW and its visually appealing graphics I think Aion may just give WoW a run for its money.
