As a person goes older, there are some

physiological functions that are becoming weaker

and one of those is hearing. This is the reason

why lots of seniors use hearing devices for them

to communicate with their loved one effectively.

The hearing devices that are used by seniors are

known as Assistive Listening Devices (ALD). These

are devices that help seniors to function the same

as before.

Personal FM Systems

It is a kind of hearing device that allows seniors

to do things as they did before. For instance, a

senior can place the transmitter on the table when

eating in a restaurant, for them to hear all the

voices anywhere he sits. In addition, he or she

can also place the transmitter in the vicinity of

the

Hearing Aid

It refers to an electronic device that is placed

behind or at the inside of the ears, and it is

responsible for intensification of sounds. This is

intended for person who finds it hard of hearing

the sounds unmistakably. The hearing aid uses

largely depends on the level of hearing loss which

is better determined by an audiologist.

Amplified Phones

These special phones are used by seniors who have

hearing impaired since it allows them to start

talking with their relatives and friends over the

phone once more. These phones are equipped with

volume and tone control for enhanced lucidity.

Seniors can use it with or without hearing aid

since it has a flasher that blinks when there's an

inward bound call, extra loud ringers, phone

memory for storing family and emergency numbers.

Cochlear Implants

This hearing aid works electrically motivating the

nerves of the inner ear so that it can give a more

enhanced hearing for those who find it hard of

hearing and deaf individuals. In addition, it is a

devise that is surgically implanted into the ears

of the seniors.

Infrared Systems

This system can be use at home either in theaters

and even watching sports competitions. It is a

system that works akin to an FM system but it

differs in terms of transmitting sound in infrared

light waves. On the other hand, an individual

should have an apparent line of sight involving

the transmitter and the receiver so that it will

work effectively.

Always determine the best hearing devices for

seniors based on their needs. So, if these seniors

do love to travel or visit museums or watch

movies, then the FM systems are good. But if they

prefer to stay at home and love to watch TV, they

theyll need an Infrared System. For assisting

learning devices, cochlear implants are good idea.
