subject: A Wish for a Brother [print this page]

As a kid I always had a deep heart wish for a brother. Being the second in family I had a sister above me and another sister after me. Although, together we had the best of time spending our childhoods in bliss. However, somewhere at the back of my mind, I did cry cry out for a brother. I really used to get sentimental when I saw my aunt tying Rakhi on my father's wrist. Well all wishes do not turn out to materialize always. My mother use to console me saying that one day your wishes will also be granted. God never lets anyone's prayers unheard. However time flew and from childhood I entered my teenage. The age when life is at its fullest and try to seek your freedom though you get nothing.

Tenth class exams in winters, I hated it like anything. Study late in the cold weather and get up early in the darkness when not even the dawn lights have lit up the sky. How jealous I use to feel seeing my little sister sleeping cosily under the soft warm quilt. At times she used to wink at me making me burn like fire out of jealousy. As nothing could be done I had to bear all her stupidness and wait for her to reach the tenth standard.

It was evening when I was returning from a coaching class. I still remember that dark lane without any lamp post and above that the curving ways. Unfortunately none of my friends came with me as they went to celebrate the new year bash. But as I was not given the permission I had to return home soon. As I was crossing the bridge I could hear a couple of foot step sounds behind me. The moment I turned back there was not a sign of anyone. Few minutes later when I was just across the stream and to my utter dismay I saw six boys standing before me. They encircled me in such a way that I could not find escape. The only thing I could do at that very moment was to pray to God closing my eyes and ask him to save me from such a life-death situation. Suddenly I could hear some odd sounds of bashing and kicking. As I opened my eyes I found a tall man of six ft, well-built hitting those guys. Those people could do nothing but run to save their lives from that unknown savior. Then he started scolding me for being alone on that isolated area lane on a new year's day. He dropped me home safely.

From that day I started considering him, sorry Rahul as my brother. As I have heard that brothers are those who will not only fight and quarrel with you but will also do the same for you. In Rahul I found my true brother. Thanks God, lately but atleast you sent one for me.

This coming Raksha Bandhan I want to give him something special and hence was surfing through the net. Yes net because my dear brother Rahul is in America for further studies. However, I came across a new site Coralhub where they have great options for sending gifts to America and elsewhere. I found the exclusive gift for him on it and the most interesting thing is that it will also be delivered to him. Thanks to this wonderful world of technology who made the world so small.
