subject: The Nokia 6121 classic - A Great Mobile Performer by:Simon Drew [print this page]

The Nokia 6121 Classic is a candybar Quad-band GMS and Dual-band WCDMA smartphone that supports high speed networks 3G, HSDPA and HSUPA. That puts it at par with most other smartphones and touchscreens to allow faster web surfing and downloading from the internet.

New Symbian Features

Nokia extends leading-edge technology on its classic line with its use of the new Symbian S60 OS technology found in Nokia's high-enders. That's just great for the less techno-savvy market as the new OS is a more stable now than when it was first released. The benefits of the S60 are quite clear, like:

- It's as fast as any regular mobile phone.

- Its menu settings are now unified using one single menu icon

- There's an extensive how-to manuals that come alive from the main menu's Tutorial icon.

- It supports all the cool applications optimized to run under the S60

- Multi-tasking is standard on all S60 mobile phones.

- It comes with a standard browser that supports Flash media and the latest java content.

Outstanding Features

While there's a real problem with the diminutive 2/2" screen for people with less than 20-20 vision or for those with large stubby fingers for its small buttons, the 6121 Classic offers outstanding features to give the competition a run for the money. The phone carries most of the impressive feature set of the Nokia N95, but without the expense, weighing 25% less and is 25% smaller.

- It's a quad band GSM and dual band WCDMA smartphone supporting high speed 3G HSDPA and HSUPA networks that let users browse and download data on the internet anywhere from 3mbps -14mbps.

- View vibrant images and video on its 2/2" LCD TFT screen that supports 16 million colors on QVGA resolution. That makes it at par with many from Samsung sporting similarly vibrant screens.

- It's a 2.0 megapixel camera with LED flash that also captures QVGA video at 15fps.

- There's Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and AVRCP that enable you to use Bluetooth wireless stereo headphones.

- It sports the industry standards 2.5mm audio output jack for your favorite high fidelity stereo headsets.

- It supports the popular and cheap microSD memory card up to 8Gb for all your multimedia files.

Overall Outlook

The Nokia 6121 Classic is a great alternative for Nokia fans who are not about to splurge on large expensive touchscreen smartphones and prefer one that's comfortable in the palm and light on the wallet. It brings together a full-featured smartphone and a regular phone into one.
