subject: LG Louvre GC990 Against Sony Ericsson Saito by:Simon Drew [print this page]

The LG Louvre GC990 and the Sony Ericsson Saito are both mobile phones that will be made available to the public in a few months time. These two mobile phones have one very important thing in common; they both have an incredible camera feature.

The LG Louvre GC990 is technically still a concept phone; it was only introduced to the public a few weeks back and the actual functions of the production-ready model are still subject to change. The Saito on the other hand is already in the production phase and is set to come out in a few months but since the consumers have yet to experience the phone, its functions are still theoretical and thus, the comparison between the concept phone of LG is worth looking in to.

How They Measure Up

With the Saito having a 3.5" screen and the Louvre having a 3.2" screen, both mobile phones have huge touch screen displays but as a consequence, are also pretty bulky. The looks of the mobile phones are pretty similar but the Saito has the advantage of having a cover over the camera lens that slides over when the camera will be used. The LG Louvre GC990 on the other hand, only has a cover that protects the lens itself, leaving the out part of the camera to be clearly visible, similar to most digital cameras and so, the Saito has to have a nod in this aspect.

Since we are looking at them in the light of being camera phones, it is important to look into their camera features. The Saito and the Louvre both have 2.1-megapixel cameras and both also have Xenon flashes and are capable of taking crystal clear photos and video. What gets the Louvre the lead in this category is its multitude of other features designed to make capturing photos a real delight.

The LG Louvre GC990, aside from the above features, also has Schneider-Kreuznach optics, touch focus and interzoom, allows for no shutter lag, and even the capability of taking high definition videos in 1280 x 720 resolution. Basically, LG looked into focusing their technology on beefing up the camera-related features of the mobile phone.

Who Wins

Both mobile phones are not yet available to the public and so the real performer between the two is hard to determine. As for now, those that want a really beefed up camera phone should opt for the Louvre but in terms of the whole mobile phone experience, the jury is still out. One thing is definitely for sure; whatever happens when these two mobile phones hit the market, the consumer wins.
