Each extender mentioned is used for a different purpose; for example an Audio Extender is used to make extensions of analog stereo audio over long distances via Cat5 / Cat5e / Cat6 UTP cables; however a DVI-D extender is used to make extensions of digital DVI video signal over long distances using inexpensive Cat5 / Cat5e / Cat6 UTP cables. In a USB Extender over Cat5 kit, the local transmitter and receiver unit are connected using Cat5 UTP cable. In this kit, also includes RJ45 and Icron Ranger USB 2.0 extender so as to support USB2.0 peripheral devices at speeds up to 480Mb/s, over a distance of 50m. The powering is done through extreme USB technology.
