Fredy's Tucan, at Basilio Badillo 245, promises "the Number 1 breakfast in town," and their selection as a Readers' Choice favorite supports their claim. You can get crepes, waffles and pancakes; however, their "campesino breakfast," with beef, eggs, chilaquiles and refritos, is their specialty.
When all you want is a cream cheese pastry and a cup of coffee, stop in at Fondants (Matamoros 236). They also serve grilled foccachio sandwiches for a filling and cost-effective first meal of the day.
La Palapa, at Plpito 103, a casually elegant establishment on Los Muertos beach, is one of the city's premier gourmet restaurants. Choose your favorite dish from the extensive breakfast menu at La Palapa, or try something entirely new from their selection of Mexican specialties.
