Diabetes may not be an air or water-borne disease but it's an illness that caught so many lives. Over four million people worldwide are yearly diagnosed with diabetes. Thanks to the innovative solutions brought by science and technology, most of the diabetics get their regular supply of insulin.

Other than the insulin shots, medical practitioners and science experts recommend that patients with diabetes should start a healthy lifestyle with proper diet and exercise regularly. Keeping an active lifestyle can help diabetics manage their sugar levels.

Below are some tips to combat diabetes:

KEEP MOVING: Regular workouts, or even just brisk routines, are good for the heart. Such activities stimulates the heart to pump faster and aid blood circulation. Just like muscles, the heart benefits from daily workups and grows stronger once it becomes used to the routine. Even a little brisk walking can help. You don't need to force your body for an hour of exercise, try to do a steady workout for 30 minutes each day.

HOT AND COLD. Like any active human being, diabetics should also learn to warm up before an activity and how to cool down after to prevent any injury. Muscle soreness can be reduced when you warm up and cool down. It would be helpful to do mild routines for 5 minutes before and after the exercise. Stretching is the most common warm up and cool down method so make those muscles loose but be sure you know the right way to stretch to avoid any risk of injury.

PREPARE YOUR THINGS AHEAD. Some might find it ridiculous but keep in mind that diabetes shouldn't be taken for granted. Other patients wear an identification tag in their bags or pants in case of emergency attack situations so people can classify immediately the right first aid treatment to offer. Aside from boredom-free, keeping a trusted companion or a loyal friend while exercising is highly advisable too by experts or if not, maintaining a cell phone with speed dial close by can really be helpful. In addition, some doctors recommend their patients to take blood sugar tests before and after the exercise for daily maintenance and observation so never forget it.

But don't be too excited to do your exercise, you need to talk to your doctor first to know if you're fit to do it and always inform them of any unusual symptoms like dizziness or vomiting to prevent further problems. Keep in mind to think and feel healthy all the time.
