Tagesspiegel Readers Prize and the Cicae Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival,Best Feature Film award at the Palm Beach International Film Festival,Best Narrative Picture Grand Jury Award at the Florida Film Festival,Narrative Feature Special Jury Prize at the Sarasota Film Festival,

Special Jury Prize and Audience Awards (Narrative Feature) at the Independent Film Festival of Boston,Best Picture and Best Screenplay Awards at Sundance Film Festival.

All these awards and many more went to a film that is one of the most anticipated Hollywood releases of the year: Winters Bone. Most critics have watched it already and showered awards like the ones mentioned above, or rained compliments like amazing (New York Magazine), extraordinary (Denver Post), powerful (Wall Street Journal), stunning (Entertainment Weekly) and a must-see (USA Today) on it.

But the people in general will have to wait till June 11th, when it will hit theaters as Roadside Attractions releases it. In between, trailers continue to arouse the interest of the audience.

The movie is director Debra Graniks second venture into filmmaking, with Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role and John Hawkes, Dale Dickey, Garret Dillahunt, and Sheryl Lee among other members of the cast. The story is similar to that of the novel of the same name by Daniel Woodrell. Set in the Missouri Ozarks, it is a tale of how Ree strives to find her father and thus save the house that he compromised in lieu of his bail. Many of Rees relatives and neighbors have criminal backgrounds, and are adept at lies and secrecy, but Ree intends to find Jessup, and the truth she probably should not know. . Indeed, when Sheriff informs her of the house being at stake, Ree says Ill find him (referring to her father) and insists, I said Ill find him. With a sick mother and two young siblings to look after, the house is a property Ree cannot afford to lose; and Lawrence has won praise for her panache in playing the gutsy Ree.

Interestingly, Lawrence featured on the 2010 list of 50 People to Watch drawn up by the New York Times. Additionally, Lawrence has quite a few awards in her bag already, the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actress or Actor, awarded at the 65th Venice Film Festival, being one among them.
