subject: Grand Prix Racing Comes To Pinball [print this page]

European fans of auto racing who have been waiting for their chance to play the NASCAR pinball machine that is so popular in the US finally get their chance with a European version of this popular NASCAR game. This game became incredibly popular in Europe, and is available with English, Spanish, Italian, French and German dot matrix and instruction cards.

Motor racing has been a popular sport in Europe since the 1890's, with the first racing events being in France. Initially, the racing was simple, and went from one road to the next to the next, etcetera, etcetera to tests of endurance, both for the drivers and their cars. Over time, this racing evolved into Formula One racing, with each Formula One race still being referred to as a Grand Prix event.

In 2006, Grand Prix racing celebrated its centennial anniversary. The first official race took place in LeMans, France, in 1906, with 32 cars racing on a 64-mile course. These days, the French Grand Prix event has taken place at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, ever since 1991. Not just a popular European sport, Grand Prix racing is popular in North America as well, where auto racing is one of the most popular sports, if not the most popular sport.

Great Features In A Great Game

The Grand Prix pinball machine is a high-energy arcade game that provides tons of racing and pinball excitement to players who are finally able to combine their loves of both racing and pinball. Designed by notable pinball machine designer Pat Lawlor and his team at Pat Lawlor Design, the main, and most exciting, feature of the Grand Prix pinball machine is a loop, or racetrack, that encompasses the entire playfield. Just like in the Dale Jr. pinball machine, the track has magnets in the loop that whip the ball around the track just like the real thing.

The software for the Grand Prix pinball machine was created by Louis Koziarz, and the mechanics by John Krutsch, and the artwork was created by an amazing team of pinball artists, Kevin O'Connor, Brian Rood and Don Marshall Productions. Well-known pinball sound engineer Chris Ganner created the sound and music for the immensely popular arcade game.

Some of the fantastic features you will find in the Grand Prix pinball machine include:

- Grand Prix Racecar Toy - players can bang the toy with their pinballs

- Semi-Truck Hauler - players can launch a pinball through this feature

Although the Grand Prix pinball machine was marketed in Europe, there have been some reports of purchasing and distribution in the United States.

This is a game that is no longer in production, and not an easy one to get. It is obviously going to be another of the many classics from Stern, and would be an awesome addition to any pinball collection. The Grand Prix pinball machine is a great game for loads of family entertainment, and will look great in your games room.
