Rocket Japanese is an online Japanese learning program. Does it actually work?
WHAT'S INSIDE ROCKET JAPANESE?
Rocket Japanese is available as a set of CDs or as a download. The system has videos, software, and special audio recordings. In addition to that, you are given access to a Learning Lounge where you can test your skills, and communicate with other users and instructors.
The idea is to teach Japanese by a system known as Visual Association. Visual association is the way you learned to speak your native language. You HEARD a word and SAW its meaning at the same time. HOW WELL DOES IT WORK?
Rocket Japanese is a powerful way to learn Japanese, IF you are sincere and willing to put in time on a regular basis. Ideally, you should aim to view the material for some time everyday (at least 30 min - 1 hr a day). The individual lessons are engineered to build on each other. Therefore, being consistent is very important.
Learning a language is much like learning to ride a bike. For the first week or so you may feel that you are not getting anywhere. If you persist, however, you will come to a point when things suddenly come together. You will find yourself creating sentences without effort and hearing most of the words in the audio recordings.
You can then add more vocabulary and advanced grammar to your repertoire.
IS THIS THE BEST SYSTEM FOR EVERY ONE?
Some people find it difficult to focus unless there is some outside pressure such as an upcoming "exam" or a teacher checking their "homework".
Rocket Japanese is a do it yourself approach. It is powerful but you have to provide the consistency yourself.
If you feel you need the pressure of a class setting in order to follow through, consider a class at a local college. Keep in mind that classroom instruction will cost much more and will take longer.
