subject: Energy Conservation through Insulation [print this page]

Demand for energy is increasing day by day, due to growth in population, and as a result the energy sources are depleting. This has raised concerns and people as well as government are looking for the options to conserve energy. Insulation is one of the effective ways that can be used for energy conservation. Whether a residential or a commercial building, installing insulation proves beneficial in number of ways. It helps in maintaining optimum temperature within the building, thereby reducing the need for various heating and cooling electrical devices. This is turn reduces the electricity bills and thus act as a utility savings insulation. Insulation can be installed at any place in number of ways using different materials available in the market. Spray foam insulation is one such insulation that is gaining importance because of the benefits offered by it. It is of two types, namely open cell spray foam or lb foam, and closed cell spray foam or 2lb foam. Closed cell spray foam or 2lb foam is used more as compared to the open cell spray foam because of the numerous advantages offered by it. This is typically used for providing roof repairs and floor insulation. 2lb foam creates a barrier around the place, thus preventing the unnecessary heat inflow or outflow from the place. In addition, use of 2lb foam in spray foam insulation, provides several benefits such as soundproofing, resistance to bacteria and pests, among many others. For these reasons 2lb foam is considered as the most effective type of insulation. Besides using insulation for energy conservation, one can also opt for energy efficient windows, also known as tax credit windows. As the name suggests, tax credit windows when installed at home or office helps in waving off considerable amount of tax. In order to ensure whether one is entitled to get tax benefits or not, should consider certain factors. The windows installed should have U-factor of 0.30 or less than that, and must also have all the previous records of tax receipts. Using these measures to save energy can help save considerable amount of energy as well as money, apart from making the place comfortable.
