subject: Hiring A Balloon Company- Party Decorations San Diego [print this page]

Congratulations! You"ve decided to celebrate that special even in style! Now you just have to find your venue and all of your vendors. You know that you want the lift, elegance and ambiance that balloons can provide for your event, but you don"t know exactly what you want, or who you should work with. If you"re looking for party decorations in San Diego, then of course Balloon Utopia is the answer ;-). But what if you don"t live in an area that Balloon Utopia services? How do you know who to hire? Below is a list of the things you should be looking for and the questions you should be asking.

1.Check their website. Of course since you"re reading this online, that"s obvious. However, some balloon companies either buy pictures to put on their website, or "borrow" from other companies photos. Make sure that the pictures on their site are actually their own.

2.Don"t just ask how much is arch, it may very well be that an arch is not the best dcor option for your event. Instead, work with your balloon professional as a designer, tell them what you are trying to do with the dcor, and see what they recommend. This serves a dual purpose, you want to see that you are working with a decorator who understands the various design principals of dcor and they may know of some other options that are better for what you are trying to achieve. You really want to work with a designer, not just an order taker.

3.When calling for quotes, make sure you"re very specific. Though you may get a wide range of prices, you need to be certain that you"re comparing apples to apples. Sometimes the cheapest is the best for your needs, and sometimes you really get what you pay for.

4.One way to see what kind of company you are talking to is to ask for a price on something and see whether they just quote the price to you, or if they ask you more questions to get a better picture of what you really need. They should be asking you questions like what is the purpose of the dcor, whether it"s outdoors or indoors, what size you"re talking about, etc"

5.Here are some questions that you might want to ask:

"Do they only do classic dcor or do they do more than that?

"Do they practice "deco-twisting" techniques (using balloons and techniques from the round and non-round sides of the balloon industry)?

"Will they help you with the design process by coming up with ideas?

"What is their experience? What type of events do they specialize in?

"Do they go to conventions to keep their skills fresh and to stay up on the latest techniques?

"Do they know the California balloon laws? Do they follow them?

"Will they meet you at the venue to help design the event? (*note, the really good companies probably charge for the consultation, but more than likely, the fee is deductable from your final total).

"What is the average price range for full- room dcor for your type of event?

So remember, if you want the most amazing dcor, that perfectly fits your event, vision and budget look for a designer, not an order taker. To see some pictures of some incredible party decorations in San Diego, check out the Balloon Utopia website at http://www.balloonutopia.com
