Several years ago I was diagnosed with Scoliosis. I found out that my spine had a curvature of thirteen degrees. My recent checkup showed that the curvature has moved to twenty-one degrees to the right side. Needless to say the news has changed my life. Finding work with Scoliosis has been difficult because most employers have rejected my application because they usually want someone who is able to lift more than I can lift. I have been searching for employment since July, 2005. I have not been employed since then, although I have searched for jobs in my local area but have been unable to secure one. The unemployment rate in the state where I reside is quite high. A few months back, I began to do research on the average salaries for medical transcription.

I tried to learn everything I could about this field. I contacted colleges, and asked for more information on this subject. I was talking to one of the college counselors at my local community college when he suggested Pharmacy Technician, but the Medical Transcriptionist program sounded more promising to me. I want to become a Medical Transcriptionist because there is a growing demand in this particular field and the medical transcription salary is great. I also like the advantages of the work at home options, coupled with the fact that there would be no heavy lifting required. I also like the flexibility to spend time with church and family, while earning a steady income. I am interested in training to become a Medical Transcriptionist because this would broaden my knowledge of key essentials, and would enable me to get a better job. At the same time I would be providing a service that would help others, not just I. A Medical Transcription course would enable me to support myself in the event that my Scoliosis should continue to worsen. SN:0TG9Y2ESY

At the moment it is very hard to get disability for my type of Scoliosis. By the time it would take to wait, I could be making a substantial income and would not have to worry about where the money for medical bills is coming from. I believe that it makes sense in todays economy to train for a career that can make a difference in the lives of the people. I see myself in the next year training for a career in Medical Transcription. I am looking at several online college options. Our local community college has classes but I really like having all the courses in a complete package, like you get when you take courses from an online college. There are no surprises, and all the books are included with most courses. Best of all, you can call or email your advisor to get the help you need when you need it. In the future I will be contacting hospitals, doctors, and firms to access my local job market. Then when I become familiar with what I need to know, and my knowledge has broadened, I will take some business courses to start my own Medical Transcription business.
