subject: 3 Excellent Tips For Baby Presents [print this page]

People who have no children often find themselves not knowing what presents to give the small ones. No matter if it is at birth, baptism or at a birthday party, some gifts will always work out well.

Toys

One of the easiest things to buy a child is a toy. All children just love toys and they can be found virtually anywhere. In general it is easier to find a good toy for younger children, mainly because they play with almost anything. Give a baby a tennis ball and see him or her play with it hours, but if you try that with a ten year old you wont be the most popular guest at the party.

A few things to keep in mind though; try not to buy gifts that can offend the parents in any way. Toy guns while popular enough among youngsters can be something parents frown upon. Another obvious thing to stay clear of is anything religious unless you are very certain of the parents beliefs.

One specific toy that seems to work every time is the teddy bear. It doesn't have to be a bear though, any fluffy and soft animal will do. Keep in mined to look at the eyes, nose and such before buying it. If they look like they can come off easily, it might be very dangerous for a baby or a small child.

Clothes

A very good present for children are clothing. Even though older kids more likely would want toys, most parents love it when their children gets new clothes. Even though one piece of clothing isn't necessarily expensive at all, it quickly adds up. Because children grow very fast, the cost of keeping them in nice clothes can be highly expensive.

As mentioned before, the older children may or may not like to get clothes as a birthday present, but it is a great gift for small children or even newborns. The younger they are, the faster they outgrow their clothes, making it more likely your gift will be used. A good thing could be to buy the clothes in a size bigger, especially if its for an infant. Often the parents get too much clothes when the baby is born better then is to buy clothes the baby can wear as they grow a little older.

Jewelry

Jewelry is another easy gift, especially if its a baby girl. Buying something in gold a bracelet, necklace or a pendant will make for a great memory of you when they grow older. Jewelry is often a gift one gives to family or close friends, not for anyone. When buying jewelry for a baby, keep in mind that it will probably not be used for quite a few years. Buying something to childish will when the kid is old enough to actually wear it - make it lay in a drawer and not be used. Better then to buy something timeless and plain, that way it is far more likely to be used.
