"KWITA IZINA" Like in humans, in the gorilla land there is naming of the newly born a ceremony that is done in the land of a thousand hills Rwanda in an occasion locally known as "Kwita Izina". This formal procedure was originally destined for naming the newly born humans however, this has for 3 decades been extended to the Gorilla land. When a gorilla is born , it is given a name by which it's addressed and this helps the park authority to observe each individual and group in its residence. From the time this ceremony started, it has been a blessing to Rwanda's gorilla tourism development and conservation. Every function usually has a goal to achieve or a mission to follow or I would call it a theme. This function is intended to raising awareness at the national and international level about the protection of the few left endangered and threatened mountain gorillas and their habitat. During this occasion, a number of important dignitaries are invited to attend. A number of international, regional and indigenous visitors have attended this occasion. Several decades have passed and many organizations have been signing in to join the conservation campaign. They are mainly international conservation organizations, donors and concerned individuals who have made substantial resources available to the gorilla conservation cause and still do so. Given the fact that each year new babies gorillas are born and different celebrations are done , also in the gorilla land there is an exciting ceremony organized at the foot of the Virunga to recognize the newly born gorillas. This function was officially launched in 2005 and was attended by his excellence President Paul Kagame and Mrs. Kagame. Other world VIPS that have partaken in the function are Hollywood star Nathalie Cotman, famous American conservationist Jack Hannah, international media and business people.
