subject: Can A Courier Shipment Be Paid For With A Credit Card? [print this page]

When you're trying to run your business with a minimum of muss and fuss, it can certainly be helpful to have a unified payment method that you use to pay for all of your business expenses. This is something that people regularly do in order to keep all their business expenses organized so that they can easily track the business financials. For most, the top method for paying for business expenses is with a business credit card. That is why many LTL carriers and couriers will accept credit cards as a method of payment.

The most important word in that first paragraph is the word "many" - which is much different than "all". Never assume that a courier company or LTL provider will accept credit cards without asking them first. Many people have simply assumed this and then found out at the last minute that they have no available means of paying their bill. It is usually easiest simply to address payment methods right at the outset when you first sign up for an account with the courier company.

Another thing to remember is that if you use anything outside of the most mainstream credit cards, there is always a chance that they won't be accepted by the courier that you're doing business with. If you're using a more obscure card of any type then take care and be sure and find out if it is one that is accepted by the courier company that you're doing business with.

Your courier company might even have different means available which you can choose from when deciding how you want to pay with your credit card. For instance, some may require you to come to their location and pay your bill in person when using a credit card. Others may have portable units that their drivers carry with them so that they can collect payment from you in person. Another option is that they may be able to process payments online or over the telephone, providing you with the ultimate in payment making convenience.

If you like paying by credit card and don't yet have a courier company that you commonly do business with, then it could be worth the time to use that as one of your criteria for selecting a courier. A simple search of the websites of your prospective choices should quickly reveal if they in fact accept credit cards as a method of payment.
