Stress Relief and Self Improvement with Hypnosis

The human mind has a great potential that people tend to overlook, but
we all know about the incredible placebo effects and the ways used by certain
people to cure us through our mind. One of these methods is self hypnosis, an
easy way that can be used by people in their everyday life. We all heard the
expression: "putting your mind to it", actually this is what hypnosis
means.
Self hypnosis is a way everybody can use to relax, find
confidence, manage stress and reach certain goals. Positive visualization is a
way to hypnotize yourself by imagining that you are already doing the thing that
you wanted to do so much. By doing this you can have incredible results because
this practice helps you focus your energies and forces towards your goal, so
self hypnosis can be compared with day dreaming but in a much more constructive
way.
There are some conditions that must be met in order to create the
atmosphere needed for the deep relaxation required of self
hypnosis.
First thing you need to do is to find a comfortable place to
lie down, slow your breathing, and then begin to empty your mind of everything
that involves stress like work, problems, deadlines, bills and all things
negative. Imagine your mind is like a bare white wall. For some people an audio
CD of natural sounds such as a waterfall or rain helps to relax. This is the key
to your relaxation so before moving on you must achieve this state of blank mind
and regular, deep, slow breaths. After relaxing your mind start relaxing your
body and feel every muscle in your body getting relaxed as you let all the
stress go away. Start with your toes, will them to be still and imagine the wave
of relaxation slowly flowing up your body. After doing this mentally project
what you want to do. Begin drawing on that bare white wall. Your goals, the way
to reach them and everything that involves this. To build self confidence,
repeat to yourself messages that are related to your confidence problem. I will
manage to...; Every day I am one step closer to ...; My actions will surely lead
to.... There are available self hypnosis CD's that are specifically designed to
deal with certain issues such as smoking or weight loss as well as stress
management and some nature sounds that carry subliminal messages. These CD's
that deliver these positive affirmations directly to the subconscious. It might
seem childish but it really works. And very important to keep a positive mood,
because if you think it will not work, it will not work. It's "the little engine
that could" theory.
Another self hypnosis method is by listening to tapes
with different messages. This works well as the subject makes no effort to talk
so the relaxation is complete but the best method of self hypnosis is positive
visualization, to project your goals and see yourself succeeding.
Sometimes you might fall asleep, deep relaxation leads to that, you can
try listening to relaxation music, white noise (the noise the radio makes in
between stations), burn incense sticks, or anything that helps
relax.
When you want to end your self hypnosis session you open your eyes
but don't associate self hypnosis to your everyday actions and put a mental line
between them.
Self hypnosis is a great way of relaxation and by thinking
about reaching our goals and mentally putting ourselves there we can find
solutions for the problems that may appear insurmountable.
