subject: Overland Park Gym - How To Choose [print this page]

All gyms are differentAll gyms are different. Choosing a gym that is right for you depends on a number of factors, perhaps the most important being your personal goals, which every gym should make a big effort to understand and accomodate.

So when you are looking for a gym, what should you consider?

1. What are those personal goals? Weight loss? Perhaps you are training for a specific sport or event or are just looking to increase your fitness level of muscle tone. The gym you choose should be able to support you in these goals on an ongoing basis.

2. Personal Training - not for everyone but a great way to stay motivated and on track. Does your gym provide this and/or allow you to work with your existing trainer if you already have one. Some gyms will cut you a special deal on monthly fees if you work with a trainer - ask about it!

3. What is the atmosphere like? This is perhaps the most important factor. Is it friendly and supportive, will they leave you alone if you know what you are doing etc. This is a highly personal thing - make sure you visit a number to find the best environment for you.

4. Does it fit your schedule? Not all gyms are open at hours to suit you. Make sure you don't pay to join a gym that isn't open to fit YOUR schedule.

5. Can you try before you buy? Many gyms will over a free trial period. Make sure you try it out at times you will be using it to check out the convenience and atmosphere at those times.

Chosing a gym that really suits you could mean the difference success and failure in acheiving your fitness goals, whatever they may be!
