subject: Quitdude 1 My Story. Part 1 Of How I Easily Quit Smoking [print this page]

I had been smoking for more than fifteen years and had tried giving up the addiction a few times without any success. Using willpower wasn't working for me.

Until the day I did something different.

My birthday was fast approaching and I had made the sudden decision to quit cigarettes after my birthday party. So the day after the party I would be an official non-smoker. I didnt plan anything else, only the date.

I thought I was going cold turkey, but I still looked forward to quitting. I was happy I would soon be free from cigarettes on that upcoming date. When I daydreamed about that day, I saw myself as a non-smoker. I was happy with the visualization and accepted it as a fact.

My visualizations were always positive. I focused on the benefits of quitting instead of the usual how hard it would be.

When the day finally came, I was a definite non-smoker immediately! No cravings, no withdrawal symptoms of any kind, no pangs nothing. I was finally free. I felt great. I really did. It was awesome.

I didnt have to try not to smoke at all I just had no urge in the first place. Even being around friends who smoked didnt bother me. I was so happy I didnt have to smoke anymore.

The big difference from going cold turkey the normal way was that I had already decided beforehand that smoking did nothing for me. Even though I didnt look at the details of why, I was over the act of smoking before my quitting date even arrived.

Why on Earth was I smoking? What was I trying to achieve? It had no function in my life. It was time to eradicate the burden. It was time to be free!

Seeing smoking in a different way gave me the positive mindset I needed.
