subject: The Abundance Of Destiny [print this page]

Trying to break free of each disaster seemed fruitless to Stacy. First she lost her job. Then her boyfriend left her. Finally her home went into foreclosure since she was unable to find work. No matter what she did to correct these failures they just seemed to be stuck.

In the past, she had always been able to solve her problems, but this was different. There was something stubbornly sinister about the series of disasters she was attracting. Like a snake crawling up over her body they paralyzed her with fear and sadness.

This Monday morning was just another in a series of failures. She sat on the couch staring at the classifieds in the newspaper in front of her. Every job was either not in her field, did not pay well enough or looked so boring going to prison would have been preferable.

What was going on here? Was she creating the problem? Why did she have to be so difficult?

She noticed a strip of sun was coming in the window. Her next impulse was to journey outside for a walk. Perhaps this would clear her head for a fresh start. As she meandered down the path, she noticed a struggling worm on the pavement. As she lifted it back into the moist soil she thought about her life.

As she did this she had a tremendous insight. Her life was like that little worm wreathing out of its soil. She realized to thrive you have to be in the environment in which you can thrive. She decided she was going to start to search for her soil.

One of Stacy's earliest memories is drawing on the wall of her bedroom with crayons. Her talent for art was evident through out her teen years. However, when she entered college she decided accounting would be a more practical choice.

She decided to begin using her artistic talent that day. When she got home she showered, got dressed and drove to the little cafe in the center of town. She sat there with a sketch pad in hand drawing some of the local scenery.

She was a little shocked, but a man sitting with a little girl at the next table asked if she would sketch them. He wanted a gift for his daughter and was willing to pay. She finished it quickly with skill, accepting the modest token of appreciation in payment. Before she was finished another person asked for a sketch. Between assignments she continued to draw her surroundings. Several of those drawings sold. When a young girl asked if she taught art lessons, she was hooked.

It did not take Stacy long to realize this might be a new start for her. Although it was not tremendously lucrative, it was better than nothing and certainly was a lot more pleasant than the job she used to have.

Routinely she added afternoon sketching in public to her life. Soon it became a productive habit drawing in students, a city project and an art exhibit. The work she loved soon became her main source of income.

As she entered her soil, she began to find her life, her path. If you have a talent you have denied and your life is not working, this is a sign from your soul to begin your work now. The work you love. From this one little step you will be led to the next step until finally you are on your abundant path.
